The development of Donut Lamp was not without its challenges. The design required a complex internal structure, and ensuring a high machining qualification rate proved to be a significant hurdle. However, the design team, led by Qihao Zhou and including designer Lin Ye, overcame these challenges to bring this innovative lamp to life.

The Donut Lamp project began in September 2020 in Milan and was completed in February 2021. It was subsequently exhibited in China in February 2021, garnering attention and praise for its unique design and functionality. The lamp's research was rooted in the understanding that desk lamps are essential household items with a vast market. By offering a unique and affordable option, Donut Lamp taps into the growing demand for desk lamps that not only provide illumination but also serve as works of art.

Recognizing its exceptional design, Donut Lamp was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category in 2021.
